EcoBank 2021 has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

By 2035, Singapore’s only landfill site, Semakau Landfill, will reach its maximum capacity. In operation since 1999, Semakau Landfill currently has approximately 15 million tonnes of waste disposed in ten of its landfill cells.

Aligned with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, a multi-ministry and 3P effort to drive ambitious and collective action through interventions such as increased carbon tax, stricter green buildings, energy efficiency and waste reduction policies, EcoBank encourages citizens to do their part in reducing waste generation.

Initiated in 2016, EcoBank is a national zero-waste initiative by CDL and media company Eco-Business. This annual initiative brings the People, Private, and Public sectors together to break the typical ‘take, use and dispose’ cycle and promote a mindset of responsible consumption. With the support of our staff, tenants, shoppers, and the rest of the public, CDL collects pre-loved items and sells them through a weekend bazaar at City Square Mall, giving these items a second lease of life. 100% of the proceeds are always donated to charitable organisations.

Shoppers perusing donated items at the EcoBank Bazaar held at City Square Mall, supporting Singapore’s vision of becoming a zero-waste nation.
