CDL Celebrates 17th Year of Sustainability Reporting Excellence with two Awards
- Conferred the Distinction in Sustainability Reporting Award at the 19th Singapore Corporate Awards
- Clinched the Sustainability Reporting of the Year – APAC Award at Environmental Finance Sustainable Company Awards 2024
For its 17th Integrated Sustainability Report (ISR) 2024, CDL is honoured to be recognised regionally and nationally for its commitment to sustainability reporting excellence with two prestigious awards. On 27 August 2024, CDL was conferred the inaugural Distinction in Sustainability Reporting Award at the 19th Singapore Corporate Awards (SCA). CDL also clinched the Sustainability Reporting of the Year – APAC award at Environmental Finance Sustainable Company Awards 2024 on 10 September 2024.
Launched in 2005 by the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, Singapore Institute of Directors, and The Business Times, the SCA is the umbrella awards for exemplary corporate governance practices for listed companies in Singapore. It consolidates existing awards while introducing new awards in corporate governance excellence. The SCA’s Distinction in Sustainability Reporting was introduced this year to recognise corporates with exemplary sustainability reporting practices and efforts. This is a prestigious recognition that reaffirms CDL’s leadership in providing transparent and comprehensive sustainability disclosures in Singapore.
The Environmental Finance Sustainable Company Awards shines a light on leading companies that are actively driving change in their approach to responsibility and sustainability, pivoting their resources, operations and entire business models to align or push past sustainability and climate targets. CDL’s recognition as a leader in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region reflects over 17 years of hard work and relentless dedication to continually improving and setting benchmarks in sustainable finance and reporting.
Since 2023, CDL has been the first in Southeast Asia to apply a two-pillar sustainability disclosure framework in its 16th ISR, capturing the “value” and “impact” its business creates. The two-pillar framework, known as CDL’s Value Creation Model, is a unique blended framework using GRI Standards as its core since 2008, adding CDP since 2010, Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark since 2013, Integrated Reporting Framework since 2015, SDG Reporting since 2016, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures since 2017, Science Based Targets initiative since 2018, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board Standards and Climate Disclosure Standards Board Framework since 2020. In its ISR 2024, CDL showcased its commitment to building with nature and became the first company in Singapore to report in alignment with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures Recommendations (refer to Annex A for CDL’s Value Creation Model).
Ms Esther An, CDL’s Chief Sustainability Officer, said, “We are deeply honoured to be recognised. These awards reaffirm our team at CDL that our reporting standards are aligned with global best practices. Our vision of building a harmonised sustainability reporting framework has been proven effective, not only in articulating our sustainability strategy and initiatives, but also in fostering accountability and driving long-term value and positive impact. In fact, our robust reporting has helped us to mobilise capital to enable greater green building and climate action. We extend our deepest gratitude to our Board, management, investors, financiers, and stakeholders who have been instrumental in making these milestones possible. We remain committed to further advancing our sustainability goals and upholding our leadership in this space.”
