Youth4Climate Festival 2025
7 and 8 July
City Developments Limited’s 8th edition of the Youth4Climate (Y4C) Festival, held as part of the nationwide GoGreen SG campaign, showcased a dynamic array of inspiring, youth-driven, and environmentally conscious activities in celebration of SG60 – Singapore’s 60th year of nation-building. Held over the weekend on 7 and 8 July at City Square Mall, the Festival offered a lively, inclusive, and impactful platform for young people to express their passion for sustainability through energetic music performances, hands-on interactive workshops, and a vibrant eco-marketplace featuring innovative, sustainable products and ideas.
More than two thousand enthusiastic shoppers and visitors took part in the festivities and explored a variety of green-themed experiences. Key highlights included CDL’s signature sustainability showcases, which special guest Senior Parliament Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment & the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Goh Han Yan visited as well:
- CDL Ecotrain – an engaging, educational journey created in collaboration with Just Keep Thinking
- CDL Microforest – a living, breathing lab that testbeds climate-resilient urban greening solutions to create cooler, more liveable cities
- A variety of creative and educational display, workshops on climate and circularity related subjects
- Eco Marketplace showcased over 20 sustainable vendors selected from a growing community of sustainable green vendors in Singapore, dedicated to promote sustainability and eco-conscious living.
- The strong crowd puller, the Y4C Concert, magic show, meet & greet with Singapore’s First Mermaid, bubble show, and movie screenings
Many families across all ages and cultures from Singaporeans to tourists had fun learning about the facts and solutions needed to tackle the climate emergency. CDL and our partners were deeply encouraged and inspired by the strong, multi-generational turnout, reflecting a growing sense of collective climate responsibility and eco-consciousness in the community.
Highlights
Special Guest Senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment & the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Goh Hanyan, graced the Y4C Festival opening on Saturday, 7 June, 12.00pm at Green Square (B1, City Square Mall). At the opening ceremony, Lauren Fleur Yeo, a past winner of CDL’s “We Love Our Planet” Storytelling Contest, gave a storytelling presentation of The Boy Who Grew a Forest by Sophia Gholz. This was followed by a sharing by Lauren’s mother and founder of Peace of Art, Eunice Yeo, on the mother-daughter duo’s sustainability journey. Yina Chua, introduced her new book Go Green SG Champions – Superheroes of the Green Academy (recently included in the MOE syllabus).
Y4C 2025’s specially curated line-up of eco educational and hands-on workshops educated guests on taking climate action and experience eco-conscious living.
Specially curated workshops by Stridy, Beetle Buds, Crafted Tapestry, GMaximus Kofi, darifarida, DECK, took place at the Singapore Sustainability Academy at Level 6 and at Green Square at B1. Eco Workshops allow guests to learn more about how to create sustainable impact, experience what eco-conscious living is like as well as learn about other sustainable themes such as the principles of appreciating nature, and reducing waste in numerous ways. Climate-themed exercise classes, as well as a workshop by Tembusu CSR, also took place at Green Square at B1.
With the growing community of sustainable green vendors in Singapore, the Eco-Marketplace at Level 1 Atrium featured over 20 sustainable vendors who are passionately dedicated to promoting sustainability and eco-conscious living.
Some highlights include booths by The Salvation Army’s re:nue, Millennium Hotels & Resorts, and CBM.
The 6th Y4C Concert was held at Green Square of City Square Mall on Sunday, 8 June. The performance line-up included singing, dancing and instrumental acts by talented youths, from ages 8 and above!
The stage programme featured an exciting lineup of performances designed to captivate audiences of all ages. One of the highlights was a mesmerizing showcase by Singapore’s First Mermaid, Syrena, who brought a touch of underwater magic to the stage with her graceful movements and enchanting storytelling. Audiences were also treated to the incredible illusions of Ian the Magician, whose spellbinding tricks and interactive acts kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Adding to the wonder, CJ the Bubble Girl delighted the crowd with her dazzling bubble artistry, creating whimsical shapes and giant bubbles that filled the stage with color and joy. There was also a children’s storytelling session of Dr Seuss’ The Lorax from winners of CDL’s “We Love Our Planet” Storytelling Contest. Together, these unique acts created an unforgettable experience, making the event truly special for all who attended.
The Lorax (Saturday, 7 June, 6.00pm) and The Wild Robot (Sunday, 8 June, 5.00pm) were screened to encourage viewers to reflect on humanity’s relationship with the environment, advocate for protection, respect, and a recognition of our shared responsibility for the planet’s future.
Delectable free snacks such as popcorn, ice cream, candy floss, hotdog buns and cookies were available for guests to enjoy.
The photographs captured by winners of the 9th Singapore Young Photographer Award have also been featured at Level 4 for the month of June. Through the lens of this year’s theme, “Worlds Within,” participants captured the beauty, complexity, and fragility of our environment – reminding us all of the urgent need to cherish and protect the world we live in.
Children and their families enjoyed a variety of fun and creative activities designed to spark their imagination and connection with nature. Little ones engaged in tactile sand play, got their faces transformed with vibrant face painting, and sparkled with colorful glitter tattoos. These hands-on experiences provided a joyful way for children to celebrate sustainability while having a memorable time at the festival.
