  • Held in support of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment’s Go Green SG movement

6 June – In support of Singapore’s Year of Climate Adaptation and the national Go Green SG movement, City Developments Limited (CDL) will present the 9th edition of its flagship Youth4Climate Festival at City Square Mall from 6 to 7 June 2026. The festival underscores CDL’s longstanding commitment to youth empowerment, climate education and community engagement.

Since its inception in 2018, the Y4C Festival has established itself as a platform for youths in Singapore to express their passion for sustainability through performances, workshops, storytelling and community-led activities. This year’s theme, ‘From Melting Ice to Rising Action’, spotlights the urgent need for climate resilience and adaptation, while reinforcing the interconnectedness between global climate systems and local action.

A public-private-people partnership to support the national climate agenda, the festival was opened by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and the Ministry of Education on Saturday, 6th June at City Square Mall. He actively interacted with the festival participants and the public and shared in his speech, “I encourage all of us to start somewhere, however small, and to inspire and bring others along with you. It is the sum of our effort that will shape the Singapore we pass on to our next generation.”

The festival features four interconnected components – Eco Marketplace, Eco Workshops, youth concert and two movie screenings – designed to translate climate awareness into meaningful action. Together, these experiences aim to inspire reflection, encourage behavioural change and empower individuals and families with practical knowledge to build resilience against climate challenges.

Ms Esther An, CDL’s Chief Sustainability Officer, said, “From the poles to the tropics, climate change affects lives and communities everywhere. Over nine years, CDL’s Youth4Climate Festival has mobilised thousands of youths and families to turn climate awareness into action. Through immersive workshops, community partnerships and increased public awareness and education, this year’s festival continues that journey – reminding us that every action – no matter how small – contributes to a more sustainable and climate-resilient future. By uniting stakeholders from the public, private and people sectors, CDL has seen a growing culture of collective action and hope for the next generation to tackle climate change together.”
