7 July 2023 – City Developments Limited (CDL)’s flagship youth environmental outreach programme, the Youth4Climate Festival returns in its largest scale ever this year. It will be held across two days from 8-9 July 2023. This is CDL’s 6th year of support for Go Green SG Week (formerly known as Climate Action Week) organised by the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, to rally youths to accelerate climate action. This is also our 4th year supporting the President’s Challenge, to help the less fortunate. Minister Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore, will deliver closing remarks towards the end of the Youth4Climate Concert on 8 July, and will also mingle with partners at the Eco Marketplace.

In line with Go Green SG’s aim as a whole-of-nation movement to rally the community to take collective action towards a sustainable future for Singapore, CDL has rolled out an exciting line-up of climate-themed initiatives. This includes the following:

Youth4Climate Concert

  • 4th Youth4Climate Concert held at the South Beach Fountain Plaza at 5.30pm. The concert showcases an exciting line-up of several acts by youths, including a storytelling session from the winners of previous years of My Tree House “We Love Our Planet” Storytelling Contest. In support of the President’s Challenge, CDL will donate $5.00 for every ‘like’ and ‘share’ of CDL’s Youth4Climate-related social media posts on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The donations will contribute to the President’s Challenge 2023 fundraising efforts for its various welfare beneficiaries.

Eco-Marketplace

  • There is a growing community of sustainable green vendors in Singapore. The Eco Marketplace will feature 40 vendors who are all passionately dedicated to promoting sustainability and eco-conscious living.

Eco Educational Workshops

  • 2023’s activities include a specially curated educational and hands-on workshops that allow guests to learn more about how to take climate action, and experience eco-conscious living. Some of CDL’s workshop partners are EB Impact, Seastainable, Just Keep Thinking, Scratchbac and Stridy covering subjects on climate science, waste management and reduction and marine conservation.

Movie Screening

  • Happy Feet (8 July, 7pm) and Happy Feet 2 (9 July, 5pm), to enable guests to understand the impact of climate change, in line with our 3rd Climate Exhibition, “Melting Ice, Sinking Cities”, held at the CDL Green Gallery (Please see CDL’s website for more information).

Ms Esther An, CDL Chief Sustainability Officer, said, “In tackling the climate emergency, we need urgent and collaborative action from diverse communities.  This year, we are glad to present the largest scale of the 6th edition of CDL’s Youth4Climate Festival since its culmination, involving hundreds of partners from the 3P sectors.  This festival is one of our many youth programs to cultivate and nurture future green champions over the years.  We have always believed in the power of youth and communities; this Festival is held to amplify eco consciousness and action to support the global and national climate targets towards a sustainable future for all.”
