Sustainability Connect and Sustainable Finance Research Hub Announce Partnership to launch CESGA exam in Singapore

SINGAPORE, 31 August 2022 – Sustainability Connect, a partnership between the Singapore Sustainability Academy (curated by City Developments Limited (CDL)) and Global Green Connect (GGC) Academy, and Sustainable Finance Research Hub (SFRH), today announced the launch of a new partnership to bring the Certified ESG Analyst® (CESGA) exam to Singapore.

The European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) CESGA program is a pioneering initiative that aims to provide the necessary training for the efficient Valuation, Measurement and Integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues into investment analysis. The CESGA program is intended for those who seek to acquire and build up essential ESG knowledge, or aspire to be ESG analysts and specialists. CESGA Holders are internationally recognized in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

In Asia, Sustainable Finance Research Hub (SFRH) is set up to promote EFFAS qualifications and administrate EFFAS training and examinations.

Sustainability Connect, launched jointly by CDL and GGC in January 2022, is a platform to connect and empower sustainability professionals amidst growing demand for ESG training. Leveraging CDL’s and GGC’s global network of experienced sustainability professionals from diverse sectors and industries, it aims to equip practitioners with the necessary skills to transform and future-proof businesses for long-term success. EFFAS, founded in 1962, is a Pan-European not-for-profit organization with over 18,000 Equity and Fixed income investment professionals. Its mission is to set the standards for investment professionals, to serve as a center for discussion and a European taxonomy in ESG Training & Qualifications.

“Strategic ESG integration is key for businesses to build resilience against climate, social and economic challenges. In the global race to zero, we need the entire ecosystem of stakeholders to align and accelerate action to channel capital and knowledge to build a low carbon and sustainable future. The Singapore Sustainability Academy (SSA) is honored to be a key partner and we look forward to hosting the EFFAS CESGA examinations in Singapore and the region at our venue,” said Esther An, Chief Sustainability Officer of CDL.

The EFFAS CESGA program is a comprehensive tool made by practitioners for practitioners and covers all relevant topics that an ESG expert needs, placing special emphasis on areas that other programs in the market might overlook, such as ESG data, ESG reporting, and sustainable investment across asset classes, due diligence and investment analysis.

Christina Lee, Founder & CEO of Global Green Connect said, “Given the strong network among Sustainability Connect, I am confident that CESGA will be well received in Singapore and other part of the region. In order to ensure candidates could gain insights of CESGA exam and pass it successfully, GGC Academy is delighted to partner with SFRH (Sustainable Finance Research Hub) to provide CESGA preparation course in Singapore.”

Professor Alexander Bassen, EFFAS Representative, Asia Pacific and Academic Director of the EFFAS Certified ESG Analyst® Program commented, “EFFAS, SFRH and myself are delighted that we found Sustainability Connect, with good reputation and invaluable experience in the field of sustainability, as our partner in Singapore. I am convinced that the CESGA Program will be a driver to make Singapore one of the leading and pioneering green finance hubs in Asia.”
