The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI)
JGI is a global nonprofit focused on inspiring individual action to improve the understanding, welfare and conservation of the environment, its wildlife and to safeguard the planet we all share. It was founded in 1997 by Dr Jane Goodall, Scientist, Conservationist, Peacemaker and Mentor. She redefined what it means to be human and set the standard for how behavioral studies are conducted through her work with wild chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania.
When she discovered that the survival of their species was threatened by habitat destruction and illegal trafficking, she developed a breakthrough approach to species conservation that improves the lives of people, animals and the environment by honoring their connectedness to each other. JGI Singapore was later founded in 2007 to continue Dr. Goodall’s work in Singapore, to improve the understanding, welfare, and conservation of the environment and its wildlife.
